Education & Skills Training Grants

Skills, certification and training grants from $50,000 to $100,000 for adults 18+. Fund tuition, exams, equipment and placements — see how to apply.

Education Grants, explained honestly.

Education and skills grants fund short, outcome-focused learning: professional certification, vocational training, exam fees and the equipment needed to complete a programme. They are not limited to degree study.

The Keystone Skills & Training Grant in our catalogue provides $50,000 to $100,000 for adults 18+ pursuing skills acceleration or short-term training. It is designed to be a first-grant experience — a short form, a reference and a clear cost breakdown.

This page covers who qualifies, what the funding can pay for and how to present a training plan that reviewers can actually evaluate. The strongest applications tie every cost line to a specific outcome.

Last reviewed Aug 29, 2026. Programme rules and deadlines can change — always confirm details on the official source before submitting.

Application Path

How to apply, step by step.

The same five-stage path applies whether you handle the application yourself or engage FedOP for support.

  1. 01

    Choose the outcome first

Start with the certification or skill you need and the job or business outcome it unlocks. Then work backwards to the course and costs.

  2. 02

    Complete the short form

The application is designed for two sittings at most. Clarity beats length — describe the outcome, not your life story.

  3. 03

    Confirm your reference

A reference request is sent automatically. Choose someone who can speak to your track record, not just your character.

  4. 04

    Budget with real numbers

Use the provided cost breakdown template. Quotes, fee schedules and equipment prices make the budget credible.

  5. 05

    Submit and await scoring

Applications are scored within about three weeks. Successful applicants e-sign an agreement and funds are released to verified accounts or vendors.

FAQ

Education Grants, Answered.

Direct answers to the questions applicants ask most often about this category.

Full grant FAQ
Can I study part-time or online?
Yes, provided the programme is short-term and the cost breakdown is clear. Online and part-time formats are accepted when the outcome is defined and verifiable.
Do I need a degree to apply?
No. The grant targets skills acceleration, certification and vocational training. Formal degree study is not a requirement — and multi-year programmes are outside scope.
Can I apply while employed?
Yes. Many applicants upskill while working. The application assesses the training plan and outcome, not employment status.
What if my course costs less than the funding range?
Awards are sized to the actual plan. A smaller, well-justified budget is not penalised — the range is a ceiling, not a target.
Can I reapply in future cycles?
Yes. Reapplication between cycles is permitted and encouraged, subject to the 24-month rule after a prior Keystone award.
FedOP supports applicants in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and participating global programmes.
