Manufacturing Modernization Grants

Manufacturing grants from $50,000 to $200,000 for equipment, automation and workforce training. See eligibility for small manufacturers and apply.

Manufacturing Grants, explained honestly.

Manufacturing modernization grants help small producers upgrade equipment, pilot lean automation and train operators. The goal is resilience and competitiveness — not simply replacing old machinery.

The Cascadia Manufacturing Modernization Fund in our catalogue provides $50,000 to $200,000 in capital grants covering equipment, training, installation and indirect costs capped at 10%. Disbursements are tied to verified quarterly milestones.

This page covers eligibility, the evidence reviewers expect and how to structure a modernization project that can be evaluated at each milestone.

Last reviewed Aug 29, 2026. Programme rules and deadlines can change — always confirm details on the official source before submitting.

    Submit the application

The file includes workforce composition, equipment scope with quotes, training partnership letters and safety clearance statements.

  3. 03

    Joint scoping call

Board engineers review the project scope with you. Be ready to discuss baseline metrics and the productivity outcome you expect.

  4. 04

    Approval and kickoff

Full grant FAQ
What counts as modernization?
Equipment upgrades, automation that improves throughput or quality, and operator training tied to those changes. The project must have a measurable productivity or resilience outcome.
Is matching funding required?
Requirements vary by project and programme. Some awards cover the full eligible cost, while others expect co-investment. We confirm the position before you submit.
Can leased equipment be funded?
The fund generally targets owned and installed capital equipment. Leasing arrangements need programme confirmation and should be disclosed in the application.
Can training be included?
Yes. Operator training is an eligible component, provided it is linked to the equipment or process change and supported by a training partner letter.
Do I have to host visits?
Yes. Evaluation cooperation and shared-learning participation are contractual conditions of the award.
